Down in Birdland
From the black and white winter project, part 3
For a couple of months, from late November 2023, I shot exclusively on a small Nikon Coolpix P7000. A point and shoot released back in the digital stone age of 2010. High contrast black and white photos only. Straight to jpegs, and then a uniform editing style in Lightroom.
This is the third post of photos from that period. (There will probably be at least one more.)
The first installation of the series is Deep winter city, the second A poetic exploration of the city in winter.
Going through all those photos – there are 1267 in the folder – I was surprised by the large amount of photos of birds (or related to birds). I’m not a bird photographer. As in really, really, really not. But I had still ended up with an astonishing amount of … bird stuff.
Probably at least partly because of the amount of zoom on the little thing. I’m a 50mm guy at heart. Zoom is weird. But fun.
So I decided to make a bird post. This bird post. Though not all the photos are of live birds. There are … other birds too. And there is the bird related stuff.
But all in all, this is probably the birdiest post I’m ever going to make. Fly, my pretties! (And no, she never said that.)

Great post and images 👌🏻. I’m also was a lucky owner of the same camera. Gave me a lot of good memories 😌👍🏻.
Nice set!!
